The main reasons for dehorning cattle are:
1. It is beneficial to breeding management. The removal of horns reduces the risk that breeders will be harmed by horns while working, especially in grazing Settings where the presence of horns can increase conflict between cattle and cattle, as well as between cattle and people, and dehorning helps reduce this risk.
2 Save breeding space. As cattle grow, the horns get larger, and cattle without horns can be arranged more closely in the breeding space, while also helping to improve feed utilization and the overall health of the cattle.
3 Keep the breeders safe. Some breeds of cattle can become aggressive towards breeders or veterinarians, and removing the horns can reduce this risk.
4 Protect the environment and rhinos. For certain farming environments, such as Spain, where local cattle are temperamental and often attack humans and other animals with their horns, removing the horns can reduce the risk to humans and the environment.
Usage method
The top is cupped and the size is consistent with the bottom of the calf horn. After electric heating, one person holds the hind limbs and two people hold the head. You can also bind the right hind limbs and left forelimbs together to hold the calf. Then wet the hair around the base of the horn with water and place the top of the electric iron on the top of the horn for 15 to 20 seconds or until the tissue around the horn is bronzed. The cow does not bleed when dehorning with electric iron, and can be carried out in any season throughout the year.
