Procedure of Use

1. Start with gloves to protect yourself and hold the calf's ears to prevent burns. The dehorners (electromagnets) are energized for at least 10 to 15 minutes beforehand.
2. Place the dehorner on the calf horn and apply gentle pressure. When the burnt hair is smoking, rotate the dehorner for 3-5 seconds. The time should not be extended.
3. This is especially true for young calves, otherwise the heat will pass through the cranial cavity and damage the brain. Dehorning is done when the calf's horns are basically copper colored rings.
